E-ZPass is an electronic toll payment system that allows you pay tolls without stopping. In some areas, it may also provide discounted toll rates.
Types of E-ZPass Transponders
There are two types of E-ZPass transponders: E-ZPass and E-ZPass Flex. If you plan to drive or slug, E-ZPass Flex is recommended.
E-ZPass
a standard transponder that attaches to your vehicle windshield. Your initial payment funds your account for toll payments.
E-ZPass Flex
Works the same as the standard E-ZPass but has a switch to indicate vehicle occupancy. If you meet the requird number of individuals (typically two or three, depending on the roadway), you can travel toll-free on Virginia Express Lanes. Otherwise, it functions as a regular E-ZPass.
