The Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) Transportation Management Program Office (TMPO) issued an update on March 27th regarding changes to the Stafford Slug Line due to ongoing construction.
I’ve included an excerpt from the TMPO’s email outlining the details of the update.

Starting on or about Monday, April 7, evening slug pick-up at the Rt. 610 – Stafford slug station will begin to shift westward along North Rotary Rd., from drop-off Area 2 to drop-off Area 1 (the former Mine Rd. slug station). Commuters will be able to start using the relocated Rt. 610 – Stafford slug station for evening pick-up. See attached map.
Starting on or about Monday, April 14, the current Rt. 610 – Stafford slug station will be temporarily closed. Commuters will need to use the relocated Rt. 610 – Stafford slug station for evening pick-up. This modification is necessary to prepare for an upcoming phase of the North Rotary Security Fence and Bollards Construction project. See complete details below:
- Morning slug drop-off and evening slug pick-up will continue during construction. Vehicles and passengers should queue as normal at the relocated slug station.
- The Corridor 2 pedestrian ramp will be closed during construction.
- Pedestrians should use Corridor 3 pedestrian ramp to access the relocated Rt. 610- Stafford slug station and South Parking.
- The North Rotary Rd. sidewalk will be closed between Corridors 2 and 3.
- A temporary sidewalk and crosswalk will be installed to route pedestrians around the work zone.
- For the duration of construction, there will be an impact to one lane of traffic at North Rotary Rd. between Corridors 2 and 3.
- Signage will be in place to direct traffic and pedestrians during the duration of the construction.
The Rt. 610 – Stafford slug station will return to its current location when construction concludes. No other slug stations at the Pentagon will be impacted at this time.
Please plan ahead, stay alert, and follow traffic control directions.
