Guaranteed Ride Home: A Commuter’s Safety Net

Have you ever worried about how you would get home if an emergency arose during your workday?  Commuter Connections offers a program called Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) – a free and reliable solution for commuters who regularly carpool (whether through slugging or arranged rides), vanpool, bike, walk, or take public transit. When an unexpected emergency occurs, GRH ensures you get home quickly and stress-free.

My Personal Experience with GRH:

In August 2018, I experienced a medical emergency that left me unable to stay at work. Unsure of how I would get home, I contacted the GRH, which I had registered for years before, and requested a ride. Within just 30 minutes, I was on my way home at noon. What started as an ordinary workday turned into a serious health crisis, ultimately leading to an ICU stay and two weeks in the hospital. Without GRH, getting home that day would have been a major challenge and expensive.

How Does the Program Work?

GRH allows registered commuters to use the service up to SIX times per year for unexpected emergencies. Qualifying situations include:

Medical emergencies (for yourself or a dependent)
Unscheduled overtime (mandated by your employer)

How to Sign Up

The best part? The program is completely FREE! However, registration is required before you can use the service.
